I was first familiarized with the anime version of Ichigo 100% before the manga version. Me and my friend’s favorite past time during our review days was to watch it. Unfortunately, we were unable to finish the whole series. But I was hook. I wanted to know who ended up together. That’s why I tried searching on it in the Internet and was glad that there’s a manga version. I decided to start from the beginning again after all the manga is simply consist of 167 Chapters.

Ichigo 100% or also known as Strawberry 100% is about a boy named Junpei Manaka who had one day “accidentally” stumbled upon a girl who literally fell in front of him and him again “accidentally” getting a glimpse of that girl’s strawberry printed panties. But wait, before you think of something else, this is not a manga for the perverts. Just a head start there was never an instance that nudity was depicted. Sorry to disappoint you but you’ll simply see the typical Japanese sexy girls posing. Alright Enough of that.

Going back to Junpei, he more or less had a love at first sight on that girl however, the only problem is he haven’t seen the face of the girl itself. And so begun the search for the girl with the strawberry panties.

Ichigo is considered as a harem manga. Harem in Japan is considered as an anime or a manga whose protagonist is a male and is more or less sought after by three or more beautiful females. In Ichigo’s case, Junpei is surrounded by Aya Tojo, Tsukasa Nishino and Satsuki Kitaoji. Who among these girls is the owner of that strawberry panties is an interesting question but the most important question is, will he end up with that girl?

Actually, I’m not in to this type of manga genre. I’m more inclined to read action-comedic manga like Naruto and One Piece but this manga is so hilarious that I just got to finish it. And Manaka is now in my list of good looking anime/manga characters.

Speaking about good looking, I like the illustration of Ichigo characters. Maybe it’s a good thing that I get to see the anime version first because I could almost imagine them moving. With regards to the story line, it’s no wonder that the author of Ichigo is a woman because she knows a lot of things with regards to girl’s emotions.

But the thing that I really liked most about Ichigo is although it’s the typical boy-meet-girl scenario (or maybe boy-meet-girls) it’s comedic approach is there but at the same time, the romantic/drama side is not lessen. Ichigo 100% could have been our story: young love turns true love.
